World Book Day 2026

World Book Day was a great success and the children loved welcoming a real author to our school. Jo Cotterill spent the day running workshops with all the classes and inspiring the children with her fantastic books. We particularly enjoyed listening to the very first story she wrote when she was just six years old, which reminded us that anyone can become an author.
Back in the classrooms, the children explored the story Leaf. They created poems about polar bears, made fantastic collages in the style of the book’s author, Sandra Dieckmann, and used drama to act out parts of the story. Together, we also created a wonderful picture of Leaf, the bear from the story, decorated with leaves made by every child in the school. It is now proudly displayed in the reception area, so please do pop in and take a look. It really was a fantastic day and the children were a credit to the school. We were very proud of the enthusiasm they showed and the thoughtful questions they asked throughout the day.
